Covenant’s Interim Pastor

Rev. Dr. Del Burnett

Del has been a Presbyterian Church USA pastor for over 25 years, serving congregations in northern and southern California as well as Alaska.  He is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelor Arts degree in Psychology; Fuller Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity degree; and received the Doctor in Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago IL.  Del has served as Assistant Pastor of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church, Ukiah, CA; Associate Pastor for Adult Formation and Pastoral Care at Grandview Presbyterian Church, Glendale, CA;     Pastor/Head of Staff at First Presbyterian Church, Fairbanks, AK; and Head of Staff at Journey Church of Folsom, CA.

Del and his wife Donna (a school counselor) have been married for 31 years and have two sons Ian age 23, and Geoff age 21, both college students in the Sacramento area.  In July of 2006, Del resigned his position as Head of Staff at Journey Church, to   pursue a life-long dream of advanced theological studies.  For the past year he has been a full-time student at Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley (a partner school of the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, CA) seeking a Master of Theology Th.M. degree in Ethics and    Social Theory.  He hopes to conclude this program with the finalization of his thesis this summer.

Del is a member of the Committee on Ministry of Sacramento Presbytery, has provided pulpit supply for a number of congregations, serves as a faculty member of the Synod of the Pacific’s First-Call, Newly-Ordained Pastor Training Program, has completed “Week #1” Interim Pastor Training, and is an Adjunct Faculty, Degree Completion  Program, at William Jessup University, Rocklin, CA.  He is an avid sports fan – Go Kings!!! – enjoys softball, basketball, golf, backpacking, biking, beach-combing and hanging out in his hammock.  While he loves the life of ministry, he believes his true “calling” was to play third base for the Dodgers!

Fred Dallenbach - Worship Leader

Paul Mannino - Youth Director
youth@covenantcommchurch.org

Paul Mannino is the Youth Director at Covenant.  He graduated from University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a BA in English Education and has worked as either a youth pastor or an English teacher for the past 6 years.  Paul married his “Southern belle” wife, Mary Kate, on May 14, 2005.  Having recently moved to California from North Carolina, Paul is pleased to not have to deal with great quantities of humidity but is saddened by the shortage of sweet tea and biscuits in the Vacaville area.  Paul is most excited about sharing his vision for youth ministry with the lovely people of the Pacific Time zone.  Having been impacted by the love of Jesus through relationships with youth volunteers, Paul understands the need for teenagers to have meaningful relationships in which they can grow in their faith.  Paul is gifted in the areas of recruiting and equipping volunteers to reach young people and help them walk with God.  Paul is looking forward to many a night in the modular unit, packed in like sardines, seeing God touch the lives of middle school and high school kids.  And he’s just as curious as everyone else to see what God is going to do at Covenant through the youth ministry in the years to come.
